Description
Gandi Chemical Solutions supplies 1,4-Butanediol Monovinyl Ether (4-Hydroxybutyl Vinyl Ether) 99% (CAS 17832-28-9) to manufacturers, water treatment plants and industrial processors. Enquiries for 1,4-Butanediol Monovinyl Ether 99% are quoted against this listing. Priced by quotation, with a current safety data sheet on every consignment.
This vinyl ether provides a four-carbon hydroxyl-terminated spacer alongside the vinyl ether group, used in the synthesis of specialty resins, coatings, and reactive diluents where a longer, more flexible linking chain is wanted. Handle and store as a flammable, acid-sensitive monomer.
Where 1,4-butanediol monovinyl ether 99% is used
- Hydroxy-functional monomer in UV-curable and dual-cure coating resins
- Chain extender and crosslink site in vinyl ether polymer systems
- Intermediate for specialty acrylate and urethane synthesis
- Adhesion promoter and reactive diluent in ink formulations
Key features
- CAS 17832-28-9, C6H12O2.
- Also ordered as Tetramethylene Glycol Monovinyl Ether, Rapi-Cure Hbve, Hydroxybutyl vinyl ether.
- Packed to your requirement at 99% with a certificate of analysis.
Specification and grade
1,4-Butanediol monovinyl ether — also called 4-hydroxybutyl vinyl ether — at 99%, CAS 17832-28-9, formula C₆H₁₂O₂. The four-carbon spacer between the vinyl ether and the hydroxyl gives more mobility to the crosslinking group than the shorter glycol ethers, which improves cure conversion in a stiff network.
Handling and storage
Combustible, acid-sensitive, peroxide-forming and hygroscopic. Store cool, dark, sealed and inhibited, away from acids and oxidisers. Water content matters where the hydroxyl group feeds an isocyanate cure downstream.
Packaging and supply
Packed to your requirement at 99% with a certificate of analysis. Ask for water content and inhibitor level on the certificate if the material goes into a moisture- or catalyst-sensitive system.

Common questions
Why does the spacer length matter?
A longer, flexible spacer lets the pendant hydroxyl reach a crosslinker even after the network has begun to stiffen, so conversion is higher and unreacted functionality lower. In short-spacer monomers the hydroxyl can be trapped before it reacts.
Is it used in acrylate systems?
Yes, commonly as an intermediate — the hydroxyl is esterified with acrylic acid to make a hydroxybutyl vinyl ether acrylate, giving a monomer with both radical and cationic cure sites.
How should it be stored?
Cool, dark, sealed and inhibited, segregated from acids and oxidisers, with the container dated on receipt. Peroxide testing is required before any distillation.
