Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information GCS collects through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it. It covers this website only. It does not cover the separate commercial records we keep once you become a customer, which are governed by the supply agreement between us.

What we collect

Information you send us. When you submit an enquiry or a quote request, we receive the name, company, email address, telephone number and enquiry details you type into the form. We ask for those fields because we cannot quote a chemical supply without knowing who is asking, what grade and quantity they need, and where it has to be delivered.

Order information. If you place an order through the shop, we receive the billing and delivery details needed to fulfil and invoice it.

Technical information. Our web server records the usual request data — IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested and the time of the request. This is standard server logging, used to keep the site available and to investigate abuse.

We do not run advertising trackers on this site, and we do not buy or sell contact lists.

Why we use it

  • To answer your enquiry. Preparing a quotation, confirming availability and sending you the safety data sheet or certificate of analysis you asked for.
  • To fulfil an order. Processing, packing, shipping and invoicing what you have bought.
  • To meet legal obligations. Chemical supply carries record-keeping duties. Some transaction records must be retained whether or not you remain a customer.
  • To keep the site working. Security monitoring, spam and abuse prevention, and diagnosing faults.

We do not use your enquiry details for unrelated marketing. If we ever want to send you something other than a reply to your own enquiry, we will ask first.

Cookies

This site sets a small number of cookies. Some are strictly necessary — they keep a shopping session together and let the enquiry form protect itself against automated submissions. Others are set by the caching layer to serve pages faster. None of them are used to build an advertising profile.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary ones will stop the cart and the enquiry form from working properly.

Who else sees your information

We share personal information only where it is needed to do the job you asked for:

  • Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its database on our behalf.
  • Carriers and freight forwarders, where a delivery address is required to move goods.
  • Professional advisers, auditors and regulators, where we are legally required to disclose.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not pass enquiry details to third parties for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to an order are kept while the opportunity is live and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted. Transaction and consignment records are kept for as long as chemical supply, tax and accounting rules require. Server logs are held for a short operational period and then rotated out.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection and access to the systems holding enquiry and order data is restricted to people who need it to do their work. No system is perfectly secure, so we do not claim otherwise — but we do keep the platform and its components patched, and we review access.

Your rights

Depending on where you are, you may have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted where we have no continuing obligation to keep it, to object to a particular use, or to complain to your data protection authority.

To make any of those requests, use the enquiry form and tell us what you are asking for. We will confirm receipt and respond within the period the applicable law allows. We may need to verify your identity first, particularly where the request would result in data being disclosed or deleted.

International transfers

We supply chemicals across borders, so fulfilling an order may involve sending delivery details to a carrier or agent in another country. Where that happens, we share only what the shipment requires.

Children

This is a business-to-business industrial chemical catalog. It is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date below. Material changes will be made obvious rather than quietly edited in.
