Description
Gandi Chemical Solutions supplies Bromacil (95% TC, 80% WP) (CAS 314-40-9) to manufacturers, water treatment plants and industrial processors. Enquiries for Bromacil are quoted against this listing. Priced by quotation, with a current safety data sheet on every consignment.
Bromacil is a substituted uracil herbicide that works by inhibiting photosynthesis, applied to control a broad range of weeds and brush on non-cropland areas such as industrial yards, storage areas, and rights-of-way. Supplied as technical concentrate (TC) or wettable powder (WP) depending on formulation needs. Handle per label and local agrochemical regulations — not for food-crop use.
Where bromacil is used
- Total vegetation control on industrial sites, substations and rail corridors
- Non-crop weed control on roadsides and around plant infrastructure
- Selective weed control in citrus and pineapple where registered
- Formulation into wettable powder and suspension herbicide products
Key features
- CAS 314-40-9, C9H13BrN2O2.
- Also ordered as Bromacil, Uragan, Hyvar X.
- Supplied as 95% technical concentrate for formulators and as 80% WP for end use.
Specification and grade
Bromacil supplied as 95% technical grade and as 80% wettable powder, CAS 314-40-9, formula C₉H₁₃BrN₂O₂. It is a uracil herbicide that works by inhibiting photosynthesis at photosystem II, taken up through the roots and translocated. Soil residual activity is long — that persistence is the point on an industrial site and the problem everywhere else.
Handling and storage
Harmful if swallowed, an irritant, and toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. Bromacil is mobile in soil and is a documented groundwater contaminant, so it must not be used over shallow aquifers, on sandy soils or near boreholes. Supply and use are regulated: a valid registration and, in most jurisdictions, a licensed operator are required. Store locked, dry, separate from feed, seed and fertiliser.
Packaging and supply
Supplied as 95% technical concentrate for formulators and as 80% WP for end use. Supply requires confirmation of the registration and licensing position in the country of use; send those details with the enquiry.

Common questions
What is the difference between the 95% TC and the 80% WP?
Technical concentrate at 95% is the active ingredient supplied to formulators, who blend it into a finished product. The 80% wettable powder is a formulated product ready to mix with water and spray. End users buy the WP; only registered formulators should be buying TC.
Why is groundwater a specific concern?
Bromacil is water-soluble, weakly adsorbed to soil and persistent, so it leaches. It has been detected in groundwater following industrial-site use, and several jurisdictions restrict or prohibit it over vulnerable aquifers and on permeable soils. Site assessment before use is not optional.
How long does it persist in soil?
Months to more than a year depending on soil type, organic matter, moisture and temperature. That residual control is why it is used on industrial sites, and it also means treated ground cannot be replanted for a long period.
