Description
Gandi Chemical Solutions supplies Acetic Acid Glacial 99% (CAS 64-19-7) to mines, concentrators and mineral processing plants. It is supplied as technical grade. Packaging: 30kg polycan. Priced by quotation, with a current safety data sheet on every consignment.
Acetic Acid Glacial 99% is a concentrated, water-free form of acetic acid supplied at technical grade for industrial buyers. In its pure state it’s a clear liquid with a sharp, vinegar-like odour that turns to ice-like crystals below 16°C, hence the name glacial. Industries use it as a raw material for acetate esters, as a solvent in chemical synthesis, and for pH control in processing lines. Because it’s both flammable and corrosive, it should be stored in cool, well-ventilated conditions away from oxidizers, with gloves and eye protection required for handling.
Where acetic acid glacial 99% is used
- Acetylation and esterification feedstock in fine and specialty chemical manufacture
- pH correction and buffering in process water and effluent streams
- Descaling and acid cleaning of stainless and food-industry plant
- Textile dyeing baths, where it fixes pH before and after dye addition
- Rubber latex coagulation and pickling formulations
Key features
- Technical grade. Clear, colourless liquid.
- CAS 64-19-7, C2H4O2.
- Also ordered as Acetic acid, Ethanoic acid, Ethylic acid.
- Supplied in 30kg polycan, with larger units quoted on request.
- Classified Danger (H226, H314). Current SDS ships with every consignment.
Specification and grade
Supplied at 99% assay as a clear, colourless liquid with the characteristic pungent odour, technical grade, CAS 64-19-7. It freezes at 16.2°C — the reason it is called glacial — so drums stored in a cold store arrive solid and need warming before decanting. Boiling point is 117–118°C and density 1.049 g/cm³ at 25°C.
Handling and storage
Flammable (flash point 40°C, closed cup) and corrosive: H226 and H314 apply, signal word Danger. Store below 30°C in a ventilated, bunded area away from oxidisers, strong bases and reactive metals. Glacial acetic acid attacks carbon steel, zinc and aluminium — use 316 stainless, HDPE or PTFE-lined transfer equipment. Operators need acid-resistant gloves, face shield and apron, and an eyewash within reach of the decanting point.
Packaging and supply
Standard pack is a 30kg polycan. Larger volumes are quoted against the delivery window you need. The current safety data sheet and a certificate of analysis ship with every consignment, and both can be sent with the quotation if you need them for a storage or permit review first.

Common questions
Why has my glacial acetic acid solidified in the drum?
Glacial acetic acid freezes at 16.2°C, so it sets into a white crystalline solid in any store that drops below about 17°C overnight. It has not degraded. Warm the container gently and evenly to above 20°C and it returns to a clear liquid with its assay unchanged. Do not apply direct flame or a localised heat source to the drum.
What material should the transfer line and pump be?
316 stainless steel, HDPE or PTFE-lined equipment. Glacial acetic acid corrodes carbon steel, galvanised fittings, zinc and aluminium quickly enough to contaminate the product and weaken the line.
Is 99% technical grade suitable for food contact?
No. This is a technical grade intended for industrial process use. If you need acetic acid for a food or potable-water application, say so on the enquiry and we will quote the appropriate food-grade material with the matching documentation.
